FULL DESCRIPTION OF THE PAINTING
The story and inspiration of Modern Joan of Arc
Joan of Arc in a modern interpretation—the title reflects the essence of the artwork: illusion, layers, and the play of perception. I called this painting “Looking Forward” because of all the work I did when the war between Russia and Ukraine had already been going on for half a year. There was no longer hope that this was just a short special operation, as everyone had been talking about. I left my country and have been living in expectation that this horror would end. But the concept of this painting is not about the war. I do not draw anything but female images. This is a female image depicting feelings about the war. I couldn’t draw for a long time. I felt powerless because I could not influence or change anything. But at the same time, these feelings of resistance and disagreement made me change my life, because this was the only thing I could influence and change, and I decided to move to the sun and the seaside.
Color Palette
The artwork is created in a monochromatic palette dominated by shades of black, ranging from deep ultramarine to icy white. This palette conveys a sense of depth, serenity, and philosophical introspection.
