Dear art lover!

I want to present a new painting to your attention. I painted this picture last year while living in my apartment near the Mediterranean Sea. I called this armpiece «BLUE UNDINA». Every morning I go to the sea. Every day I walk along the seashore and watching the changes. Throughout the day, the sea changes several times, the light changes, the waves change, and the sound of the sea changes. Watching the sea brings various stories and fairy tales to mind, I remember legends and myths about sea creatures. And I, inspired by the sea, I looking at the various of blue and white colors. Then I come home and sit down to paint. This time I imagined a mermaid, a free, feminine, beautiful inhabitant of the depths of the sea.
The story of Undine, originates from European folklore and has been retold in various forms throughout history.
According to the legend, undine was a water nymph, often depicted as a beautiful maiden with an affinity for water. The most beautiful interpretation of the myth about undine is when she acquires legs instead of a tail in order to be with her beloved. However, in this story, we rarely think about her victim, that she left her familiar world. relatives, parents, friends. She left her loved environment, and lost her freedom to serve for one man. This year, thousands of dead jellyfish washed up on the seashore in our city. They were beautiful, clean, transparent, like moonstones dangling lifelessly in the waves. I was shocked, I understood that something had happened, why they had died in masse. I felled sympathy and concern for the inhabitants of the sea. I thought how vulnerable and defenseless they were, and my imagination took me into the fictional world of marine life and I imagined undine.

Best regards,
Milar Talore

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Her tragic tale continues to captivate audiences and remains a poignant reminder of the complexities of love and its potential pitfalls. Through the story of Undine, we can imagine our story of life. Imagine that she grows up, became an adult woman. The reality was realized. She began to make sense of her life consciously. I am impressed by the sea I live nearby. I am inspired by the story of Undine, her self-sacrifice for love. At the same time, I see in this myth the everyday story of modern women all over the world.

IMPLEMENTATION

the concept of the painting unveils the tale of a mystical sea creature, through strokes of vivid imagery and painful storytelling. The plot unfolds as the undine, torn between her ethereal existence beneath the waves and a longing for the human world above, grapples with a profound sense of longing and belonging.

The scene is set amidst a breathtaking underwater realm, where shimmering corals and dancing sea creatures provide a backdrop of otherworldly beauty. The composition captures the undine’s graceful form as she has perfectly proportioned body, her eyes reflecting the depths of the see and the mysteries of her heart.  Through this painting, I’m telling the viewers to delve into the enchanting depths of the undine’s world and contemplate the timeless themes of love, identity, and the longing for connection.

Style

I do this painting in a academic style. A naked woman is sitting with her back to us, half turned. She holds her hair with her left hand on her head. This is the face of an adult woman, not a girl. Her gaze is penetrating, direct, looking into the distance. She looks far out to sea.

Texture and Painting Technique

I’m drawing a monochrome image. I mix blue, red, and white colors. Yes, red and black are also present here. They create the shades and semitones I need. I paint with a multi-layered painting technique.
First I covered the canvas with several layers of large strokes of blue and then white paint to create a blurred background effect. Then I outlined the main parts of the female figure. After that, when layer by layer dries a little, I work on the details with the clean colors.
